I remixed and remastered one of my unpublished music beds for my electric guitar instrumental music this weekend. After that, came time to add some rhythm guitar parts and lead guitar that will carry the melody of the song. And that’s the process where I sometimes don’t even know where to start. It is because, as much as possible, I want to avoid doing anything I’ve already done in my other songs.
I’m so glad that I recorded as soon as I got a few rhythm guitar ideas. Now comes the most important part – the lead guitar melody. So, I needed a new video and I also need a melody. I did both. When I record video, my guitar is being recorded in my DAW.
After a dozen takes I think I got something on the tenth and the last take. Out of 12 takes, I only completed playing through the full song on takes 10 and 12. I usually stop doing more takes on the take where I performed best for the entire length of the song. I chose take 12 at first. But later, when I checked take 10 both on video and the audio track, I found that it is better than the 12th take. And that’s why it is always a good habit to always push record. I’ve fished for guitar lines, in the past, which I did not record right away thinking that I will remember them when I open my DAW.
So, this brings us to the video below that recorded take #10 which wrote the lead guitar part for my now new song that I’ve published on YouTube today, 30th of August 2022. Please watch it and see if you like the tune and leave your comments. I would love to hear what you think of the outcome of my labor. The tentative title of the song once I release it as a single will be “Roses”. There are no guarantees that I won’t change it to a different title :).
By the way, I went for a haircut tonight. See you on the next blog post and video!
