Case 1: Copying a Preset Within the Same Bank

For example, you are in Bank 00 and you want to copy your program from footswitch 1 to footswitch 2, namely, Preset 1 to Preset 2 respectively.

Do the following steps:

  1. Turn off the FCB1010.
  2. Press and hold the DOWN footswitch as you turn on the FCB1010 again.
  3. Next, press the UP footswitch twice. This puts the FCB1010 into CONFIG mode.
  4. Then, press footswitch 5. The VALUE 1 LED will light up and the big number display will start flashing with the LED on footswitch 5. It is waiting for you to enter which preset you want to copy.
  5. So now, to tell FCB1010 that you want to copy footswitch 1 from Bank 00, press footswitch 0 (footswitch 10) and then footswitch 1. This will display the number 01, which means preset 1, in the flashing big red number LED display.
  6. To confirm, press the UP footswitch. The VALUE 2 LED will now light up as the red number display continues flashing with the LED on footswitch 5.
  7. Now, you need to tell FCB1010 to paste into footswitch 2 the program that you copied from footswitch 1. So, press footswitch 0 (footswitch 10) and then footswitch 2 to enter the preset number 02.
  8. Confirm it by pressing the UP footswitch once again.
  9. If you have other programs to copy from one preset to another, just stay in CONFIG mode and repeat steps #4 to #8.
  10. To exit CONFIG mode, press and hold footswitch 5 for about 2.5 seconds.

That’s it! If you followed the steps correctly, footswitch 2 in bank 00 (preset 2) will now trigger the same MIDI commands that you programmed footswitch 1 to do, in Bank 00 (preset 1), without manually editing preset 2.

Case 2: Copying a Preset from One Bank to Another Bank

The steps to copy a preset from one bank to another is exactly the same.

The only challenge is that you have to understand is how presets are numbered as you copy and paste across banks.

Table 1 below shows that within Bank 00, as you play guitar, switching between footswitches 1 to 10 means switching between presets 1 to 10.

Bank 00 Preset 1 Preset 2 Preset 3 Preset 4 Preset 5 Preset 6 Preset 7 Preset 8 Preset 9 Preset 10
Bank 01 Preset 11 Preset 12 Preset 13 Preset 14 Preset 15 Preset 16 Preset 17 Preset 18 Preset 19 Preset 20
Bank 02 Preset 21 Preset 22 Preset 23 Preset 24 Preset 25 Preset 26 Preset 27 Preset 28 Preset 29 Preset 30
Bank 03 Preset 31 Preset 32 Preset 33 Preset 34 Preset 35 Preset 36 Preset 37 Preset 38 Preset 39 Preset 40
Bank 04 Preset 41 Preset 42 Preset 43 Preset 44 Preset 45 Preset 46 Preset 47 Preset 48 Preset 49 Preset 50
Bank 05 Preset 51 Preset 52 Preset 53 Preset 54 Preset 55 Preset 56 Preset 57 Preset 58 Preset 59 Preset 60
Bank 06 Preset 61 Preset 62 Preset 63 Preset 64 Preset 65 Preset 66 Preset 67 Preset 68 Preset 69 Preset 70
Bank 07 Preset 71 Preset 72 Preset 73 Preset 74 Preset 75 Preset 76 Preset 77 Preset 78 Preset 79 Preset 80
Bank 08 Preset 81 Preset 82 Preset 83 Preset 84 Preset 85 Preset 86 Preset 87 Preset 88 Preset 89 Preset 90
Bank 09 Preset 91 Preset 92 Preset 93 Preset 94 Preset 95 Preset 96 Preset 97 Preset 98 Preset 99 Preset 100

And, when you press the UP footswitch to go to Bank 01, it means you scrolled up to a higher set of 10 presets. This time, in Bank 01, stepping on footswitch 1 will trigger Preset 11, stepping on footswitch 2 will trigger Preset 12, and so on. So, footswitch 10 in Bank 01 will trigger Preset 20.

Now, without looking at Table 1, what preset number is footswitch 8 in Bank 6? If you answered 68 you are now ready to copy any preset from any bank and paste is to another bank with precision.

Simply do the same steps in Case 1 above. You only need to accurately enter the correct preset numbers in step #5 and step #7 each and every time.

In conclusion, whether you’re copying a preset within the same bank or from one bank to another, the process remains the same. Understanding how presets are numbered across banks is crucial for accurate copying and pasting. By following the steps outlined in Case 1 or Case 2, you can seamlessly duplicate your desired programs without the need for manual editing. With a clear grasp of preset numbering, you can confidently copy presets between banks and unleash the full potential of your FCB1010.
